Zonagen Board Nominates Ms. Nola Masterson and Dr. David Poorvin to Join Company's Board as Prospective Members.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Zonagen, Inc. (Nasdaq:ZONA)(PCX:ZNG) today released that the Company's current Board of Directors ("Board") has nominated two additional members to join the Board pending approval by Zonagen shareholders at the Company's upcoming annual meeting to be held on September 29, 2004 in New York. The two nominees, Ms. Nola Masterson and Dr. David Poorvin, will stand for election at the upcoming meeting.
Ms. Masterson holds an M.S. in Biological Science from George Washington University and advanced studies in related fields from the University of Florida. She was one of the first biotech analysts on Wall Street working with Drexel Burnham Lambert and Merrill Lynch. She was instrumental in the founding of the BioTech Meeting in Laguna Nigel, CA and the annual Biopharmaceutical Conference in Europe. Most recently she was a Venture Partner and remains a Senior Advisor to TVM Techno Venture Management, as well as currently the Managing Member and General Partner of Science Futures LLC, I, II, & III venture capital funds. She is co-founder of Sequenom, Inc. a genetic analysis company located in San Diego and Hamburg, Germany. Nola has served as keynote speaker and moderator for several regional conferences that have focused on the unique challenges facing biotech companies in an evolving capital market.
Dr. David Poorvin holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. He has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and is currently an Executive-in-Residence at Oxford Biosciences, a venture capital company. He is also engaged in private consulting for biotech companies. At the end of 2003, Dr. Poorvin retired from Schering-Plough Corporation as Vice President of their Business Development operations where he negotiated licenses, joint ventures and acquisitions of pharmaceutical products and research technologies. During and prior to his 22 years at Schering-Plough, Dr. Poorvin held positions in both preclinical and clinical development for Pfizer and Lederle Laboratories. He was responsible for several New Drug Applications ("NDA") programs including such drugs as Procardia and Imdur.
Neither Ms. Masterson's nor Dr. Poorvin's present affiliations own stock in Zonagen.
