PROJECT OVERVIEW:

LG CHEM LTD. of South Korea already operates 3 petrochemicals plants in China, including 1 that produces polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that is widely used for housing and construction. This unit has an installed production capacity of 340,000 tons per year (t/y). The company was also recently considering building another petrochemical complex in Australia. However, as a result of higher-than-expected labor costs and the appreciation of the Australian dollar, LG subsequently decided to build the new plant in China.
