Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says it will cut about 500 jobs at its North American Tire manufacturing plants. The move is the latest in a cost-cutting plan under which the company has already axed employer contributions to 401(k) retirement plans, halted dividend payments and cut about 700 mostly white-collar workers at its base in Akron, Ohio.
