John Klukan, general manager of the Crowne Plaza Addison/Near The Galleria, has been elected to the board of the Hotel/Motel Association of Greater Dallas. The Hotel/Motel Association promotes the interests of area hotels

Klukan came to the Crowne Plaza Addison as general manager in March 2001. Before the Crowne Plaza appointment, he was regional vice president of operations for Winegardner and Hammons, a hotel owner and management company with multiple hotel brands in 12 states. In 2000, while at Winegardner and Hammons, Klukan received the Marriott International Hotel Opening of the Year Award for the successful opening of the DFW Airport Marriott South.

Klukan also served as general manager at the Holiday Inn Melbourne Oceanfront Resort, another Winegardner and Hammons property, in Melbourne, Florida. Prior to his tenure with Winegardner and Hammons, Klukan was national director of sales and marketing for Lexington Hotel Management, responsible for 22 Lexington Suite hotels in Arizona, California and Texas. He also spent 12 years with United Inns, holding numerous general manager and director positions at larger, full-service properties in Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas and Georgia. He was instrumental in opening and repositioning several United Inns properties.

Throughout his career, Klukan has held leadership positions in a number of civic and industry associations, including chairman of the Melbourne Florida Convention and Visitors Bureau, board member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and vice president of the Brevard County Florida Sports Commission. He is a past vice president of the Holiday Inn Hotels of Florida Marketing Association and a board member of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association. He has served on the boards of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is an alumni of Leadership Richardson.

Klukan received a BS degree from the Conrad N. Hilton Hotel School at the University of Houston and holds a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) certification from the American Hotel and Motel Educational Institute.
