Stilwell Financial Elects Barra Co-Founder Andrew Rudd to Board of Directors.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2002

Andrew Rudd, chairman of the board of directors of Barra, Inc., has been elected to the board of directors of Stilwell Financial Inc., expanding Stilwell's board to six.

Rudd co-founded Barra, Inc., the

global leader in investment risk management systems, in 1975 and served as the company's president and chief executive officer from 1984 to 1999. He gained international recognition for co-authoring "Modern Portfolio Theory: The Principles of Investment Management" in 1982 and "Option Pricing" in 1983. From 1977 to 1982, Rudd was a professor of finance and operations research at Cornell University.

Rudd graduated with honors from Sussex University, Sussex, England, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics. He received an M.S. in operations research, an M.B.A. in finance and international business, and a Ph.D. in finance and operations research from the University of California at Berkeley.
