DRS ELECTS MARK S. NEWMAN CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD.

PARSIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 11, 1995-- Diagnostic/Retrieval Systems, Inc. (ASE:DRS.A,DRS.B) today announced that Mark S. Newman, age 45, president and chief executive officer, has been elected to the additional position of chairman of the company's board of directors.

He succeeds

his father, Leonard Newman, age 71, who is retiring. Leonard Newman has served as the chairman of the board and a director since co-founding the company in 1968. He will continue to serve as a director on the company's board and has been named to the honorary position of chairman emeritus in recognition of his long service with the company.

Mark Newman joined DRS in 1973. He was promoted to vice-president, finance, chief financial officer and treasurer in 1980, and executive vice president in 1987. He was elected to the company's board of directors in 1988, and in May 1994, was appointed president and chief executive officer. A certified public accountant, Mark Newman received an M.B.A. degree in financial management from Pace University.

Mark Newman is a member of the Presidents Association of the American Management Association, the American Electronics Association, the United States Navy League, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the American Defense Preparedness Association. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
