SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 1997--Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading distributor of technology products and services, today announced that Shelly Talbott has joined the company as vice president and general manager, Government Division. The appointment demonstrates Ingram

Micro's commitment to serving its customers in the growing federal and state/local markets.

Talbott, who will be based at the company's corporate headquarters in Santa Ana, Calif. has 12 years of government sales experience, during which she developed strategic alliances with customers, resellers and manufacturers. She will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the division, and overseeing the design and execution of new programs for government resellers. Talbott will also spearhead the company's efforts to deepen its presence at the state/local level.

In addition, Talbott will also oversee Partnership America(TM), a program that helps resellers in the procurement of government contracts through services, such as proposal support and long-term, firm-fixed pricing. More than 225 manufacturers belong to the program, most of which provide additional discounts for government resellers.

Talbott will report to Greg Hawkins, Ingram Micro's senior vice president of sales, who said, "Shelly understands the government market and will play an integral role in the growth of the division. She has spent many years in government sales in the Washington, D.C. area -- she knows the customers, the resellers, and the manufacturers. Her sales and management background will be extremely valuable to the team as we continue to expand our government business."

Talbott will oversee the division's team of program, support and operations associates as well as its dedicated sales team -- which exclusively targets the government market.

Prior to joining Ingram Micro, Talbott served as vice president of North American sales for Vienna, Va.-based Excalibur Technologies. She also served as the divisional vice president of sales and vice president of strategic alliances for Herndon, Va.-based Computer Associates International (formerly Legent Corporation). While there, she helped build the government division, executing the largest contracts in the company's history.

Talbott holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and decision sciences from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
