Quantum Appoints Brodie C. Keast as Vice President ofMarketing for Specialty Storage Products...

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 1997--Quantum Corp. (NMS:QNTM) today announced that Brodie C. Keast has been named vice president of marketing of its Specialty Storage Products Group (SSPG).

Quantum's fastest-growing business, SSPG, markets the increasingly popular DLT

tape drives, as well as tape autoloaders, media and solid state disks. Keast will report to Peter van Cuylenburg, president of SSPG.

Keast, 41, will be responsible for providing strategic direction and developing a market vision that will ensure SSPG's long-term success across all of its product lines. Additionally, he will be responsible for growing the business through key initiatives such as strategic alliances and penetration of the European and Asia/Pacific markets.

"Market acceptance for SSPG products enabled us to more than double our sales in the last year, and we believe a similar opportunity continues to exist," said van Cuylenburg. "Brodie is a proven strategist who has demonstrated cross-functional management and marketing skills in the computer industry. These skills will enable him to build a world-class marketing organization and ensure that our opportunity to become the de-facto tape standard in network computing is realized."

Keast joins Quantum from Apple Computer Inc., where he spent the last 10 years in a variety of key marketing positions. Most recently, he was vice president of worldwide product marketing. In that role, he was responsible for business planning, global strategies and product management. Product lines under his responsibility included: PowerMacintosh, Performa, PowerBook, Servers, System Software, LaserWriter and StyleWriter products.

Before joining Apple, Keast worked for Hewlett-Packard Company in product line management and firmware engineering. He also spent two years at Convergent Technologies. Keast holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, Chico.
