Advanced Photonix Inc. Announces New Director andManagement Assignments.

Advanced Photonix Inc.(R) (ASE:API), the leading developer and manufacturer of large area avalanche photodiodes (LAAPD), Thursday announced that Brock Koren was elected to the board of directors and will serve as president and chief executive

Koren joined the company in July 1998 and has been serving as vice president of sales and marketing. This appointment succeeds Harry Melkonian who resigned his position to seek other opportunities.

In making the announcement, Hayden Leason, chairman of the board, said: "We are fortunate to have Brock available to take on this assignment. Brock has demonstrated both his sales and marketing leadership skills as well as his ability to finalize our LAAPD commercialization strategy.

The company also announced that Harold Blomquist and Robert Allison had resigned from the board of directors due primarily to time constraints. The company intends to fill these two seats with independent directors.
