The promotion formalizes the importance of maintaining the leadership of the Shula brand within the Shula family. "Shula's is not only a restaurant brand but my family name. It is important to me that we ensure it is always being represented with the highest standards," said Dave Shula.
Dave Shula has worked as Executive Vice President of Shula's Steak Houses for the past four years and during that time Shula's has grown rapidly. When Dave Shula joined Shula's Steak Houses, L.P. in 1997, Shula's only had six restaurants. Today, Shula's has over 22 restaurants and growing, making Shula's one of the top five steak houses in America. Shula's is also in the process of finalizing 6 more restaurants by the end of this year, which will end 2001 with close to 30 restaurants.
In his new position, Dave Shula's responsibilities will include ensuring the quality of the brand and will stress the demand for excellence at his restaurants. As President, Dave will also be the spokesperson for restaurant industry conferences and organizations. Other promotions within the Shula organization include Andy Younts to Chief Operating Officer, Paul Aviles to Chief Information Officer and Frank Matasavage as Chief Financial Officer.

Don Shula attributes his success in his restaurants to focusing on creating ravings fans by concentrating on food and service, not advertising.
