Appoints James A. Maclennan Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
and Bruce W. Smith Executive VP for

Concurrent with this appointment, the former CFO, Bruce W. Smith, has been appointed Executive Vice President, Office of the Chief Executive, for Strategy, Development and Acquisitions. This strategic move adds depth to the executive team at Theragenics(TM) while maintaining continuity.

Before joining Theragenics(TM), Mr. MacLennan served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Lanier Worldwide, Inc., a $1.4 billion technical products and digital solutions company. He joined Lanier as Vice-President of Finance and Administration in 1997 and assumed duties as CFO in 1998.
Mr. MacLennan was Vice-President of Accounting for Noble Drilling Corporation, one of the world's foremost oil drilling contractors, from 1995 to 1997. At Noble he also served as Director of Risk and Audit from 1994 to 1995, and Manager of Internal Audit and Special Projects from 1993 to 1994. He has also held financial positions for nine years with Exxon Corporation in Great Britain, Australia, and the United States.
Mr. MacLennan has earned degrees in Commerce and Taxation from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and is a Chartered Accountant.
Mr. Smith is a fifteen-year Theragenics(TM) employee and has served as the Company's Chief Financial Officer for the past 13 years. Mr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his Masters of Business Administration Degree from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, where he was an F.C. Austin Scholar.
