LOS ANGELES -- Herbalife International, Inc. today announced the appointment of William M. Rahn as senior vice president and managing director, Herbalife Japan, with responsibility for all marketing and operating functions in Japan. Rahn will report to Greg Probert, chief operating officer.
Rahn, who is fluent in Japanese, brings an ingrained balance of Japanese and U.S. cultures to the company. He spent his childhood in Japan as well as much of his career. Most recently, he served at Marvel Enterprises Japan as managing director for Japan and Asia. Prior to that assignment, Rahn had a successful career with Universal Studios as managing director of consumer products, and later as president of Universal Pictures Japan. Rahn has also held senior executive level positions in Japan for McDonalds, Trammell Crow and other international companies.
"Bill has a terrific understanding of the consumer market in Japan and a strong background in marketing management, as well as an understanding of implementing global strategies in the Japanese market," said Greg Probert, chief operating officer. "He will enable us to continue to grow our business in this important market."
Rahn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Studies from Yale University.
Under the direction of Michael O. Johnson, who became chief executive officer in April 2003, Herbalife regionalized its business practices into four regions: Americas, Europe, Asia/Pac Rim and Japan. Rahn is the newest member of the executive team assembled by Johnson to reinvigorate the brand around the world.
