CALABASAS, Calif. -- Sabeus Photonics, a developer of fiber optic components and subsystems for telecommunications, acoustic sensing and surveillance applications today announced the appointment of Mark Demos to the position of General Manager, Sabeus Optical Components, and of Michael Hochmeister
Sabeus is strengthening its management team and expanding production at its facility in Freeport, Pennsylvania, to meet the growth in demand for its products in the US and abroad. The management appointments follow the doubling of Sabeus' production personnel in Pennsylvania this year.

Mark Demos joins Sabeus from Carlsbad, California-based Oluma, Inc., a manufacturer of fiber optic components, where he held the position of Vice President Marketing and Interim CEO. He was previously Vice President, Sales for laser manufacturer Alfalight, and Senior Associate with ARCH Venture Partners. At AVP he served as General Manager of Xtera Communications, and prior to AVP Mark held various positions at ADC Telecommunications, including Regional Sales Manager, moving into Program Management and finally leading the acquisition of Princeton Optics and formulating the optical components strategy of ADC's BCG group. Mark holds an MBA from The University of Chicago and a B.S. from Eastern Illinois University.
Michael Hochmeister is joining Sabeus from Raytheon where he held various operations management positions and was assigned to F-15 Eagle and AC-130 Gunship radar systems. From 1996 to 2001, Michael held engineering and management positions at Lexmark International, where he was instrumental in successfully producing the company's first internally designed laser scanning unit, a key sub-assembly in laser printers. He also pioneered outsourcing of laser scanning unit production to contract manufacturers in China. From 1991 to 1996, Michael was with Amoco Laser Company (now a division of Scientific Atlanta) as Product Manager for pulsed laser systems. Prior to Amoco Laser Company, he was employed at Litton Laser Systems, where he developed and produced the LANTIRN laser rangefinder and target acquisition systems for F-15 and F-16 fighter jets. Michael holds an MBA from the University of Kentucky, a B.A. in Industrial Management from Aurora University, and an A.S. in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology from Vincennes University.
