SAN ANTONIO -- Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation (SSAC) announced today that Dr. Ching-Chiang Kuo has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SSAC.

After 26 years with Rockwell International, now The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA), on such programs as satellites, the space shuttle, and the space station, he joined the Taiwan government as Vice Chairman of the Public Construction Committee with overall responsibility for public construction projects throughout Taiwan. His accomplishments there include successful implementation of a rapid transit system for the City of Taipei which now serves almost one million riders a day, initiatives to enforce environmentally conservative construction techniques, and developing and executing an effective and eco-friendly landslide and debris flow mitigation methods.

"SSAC is very close to achieving type certification from the FAA on the SJ30-2. The plane has a cruising speed of mach .83 (560 miles per hour), can fly 2,500 nautical miles without refueling and operate at altitudes of up to 49,000 feet. The SSAC plane achieves all this at a price point and fuel efficiency that is far better than any other similar plane in the world.
"Once type certification is achieved, SSAC will focus on achieving production certification and continue its very significant commitment of ramping up production. Because of the large quantity of orders that have already been placed, SSAC has committed to expanding their facilities and workforce in Martinsburg, West Virginia and San Antonio, Texas. In addition, SSAC has committed to and started Lean Manufacturing improvement efforts that will further increase manufacturing capacities and improve quality."
