Granular materials 'can compete with liquids': Recently-introduced soft silicone rubber granules are an alternative to liquid silicones, according to Maplan. Originally granular silicone material was only available in 75 Shore grades with peroxide curing needing a long vulcanisation time. The newer crosslinkable 58 Shore HTV-silicone granules have a much reduced cure time, such that Maplan says they are a real alternative to LSR.
