SIBR for high performance tyres

An SIBR polymer with controlled composition and microstructure has been developed for high performance tyres by Goodyear. * Goodyear has developed a family of tailored polymers which give improved performance in passenger car tyres. These materials--SIBRS--are terpolymers of styrene, isoprene and butadiene rubber, with a carefully designed structure.

This has been made possible by tailoring the anionic terpolymerisation of styrene, isoprene, and butadiene to achieve simultaneous control of composition, microstructure, and sequence
