By Walker, Frederick H.
Publication: The Journal of Coatings Technology

This series focuses on the polymerization processes used to prepare polymers and resins utilized in the coatings industry. [*] Significant attention will be paid to reaction mechanisms. A basic understanding of these reaction mechanisms gives the reader a simple framework within which almost the entire range of chemistries employed in modern paints and coatings can be understood. The vast majority of polymers utilized in coatings are made by either step-growth or chain-growth polymerization. The curing reactions of most thermosetting paint films are also step-growth polymerization
