Minister of Tourism Ramon Alfredo Bordas said that US Airways will start a flight to Puerto Plata from Philadelphia in November, reports DR1 Daily News (May 18, 2001). He also said Continental has agreed to increase the amount of seats on its Newark-Puerto Plata route. He said the Ministry

has a budget of US$38 million for promotion in Europe and the US, adding that the Government has already invested US$2.3 million to support tour operators bringing extra flights to the North Coast.
