FIRESTONE DOUBLES TIRE EXPORTS.

Firestone subsidiary Llantas de Centroamerica S.A. (LLACASA) has inaugurated a US$37.5 million, 210,000 square foot plant here that will increase yearly production capacity from 750,000 to 1.5 million tires, bound for the U.S. market alone, and another

1 million tires for Central America and the Caribbean, says Firestone Costa Rica General Manager John O'Grady, reports The Tico Times (April 30, 1999). Tokyo-based Bridgestone Corp. purchased Firestone Tire & Rubber in 1988 and acquired controlling shares in Firestone Costa Rica last year.
