CITIZEN SECURITY PROGRAM.

US$30 million is being sought from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for a Citizen Security Program (ESO116) whose objective is to reduce the level of violent crime and improve public security to allow higher rates of economic growth and an improvement in the quality of life of the Salvadoran

The focus is violence and crime prevention among minors under 18 and young adults aged 18-25. The program has four components: (1) modernization/coordination of involved national government institutions; (2) crime prevention among youths and rehabilitation of young; (3) fund for local community based prevention/rehabilitation initiatives; (4) coordination and execution scheme; Consultants would be hired to provide technical assistance for the program. Small civil works would be financed, including the construction of sports and community facilities.
