Finding the Best Franchise for You

Wednesday, September 26 2007

If you were going to buy a franchise, what would be your first choice right now?

I love this question, and I love answering it.

The simple, but very correct, answer is this. As a franchise consultant, I may have a very strong opinion about which franchise might be right for me, but what is right for me, has little or nothing to do with what is right for the next person.

Perhaps the important ingredient in choosing a franchise (or any type of business opportunity) is ones "best fit" with that venture. If a new food concept is touted to be the best investment since healthy living, yet you hate to be around food preparation, does it make much sense for you to get involved? I doubt it.

Every person thinking about becoming an entrepreneur should conduct a "personal inventory" that includes gifts and talents, or likes and dislikes. Only then should a "business plan" be developed; a plan that pays very close attention to findings concerning themselves as a person.
