DETROIT -- Johnny's Lunch, a 71-year-old dining institution in Jamestown, NY and home of Johnny's famous Hots, Burgers and Shakes kicked off its national franchise expansion with a 75-unit deal in Michigan including Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston, Monroe, Lapeer, St. Clair and Sanilac counties.

"This is the largest deal ever for a first time franchise expansion," offered George Goulson, Johnny's Lunch chief development officer and based in Bloomfield Hills, MI. "We don't know of a larger deal for a first time franchise expansion."

Goulson announced the agreement with Michigan Group, JBV, LLC of Franklin, MI just north of Detroit. A veteran of 22 years experience in franchise development including Little Caesar's, A&W Restaurants and Long John Silver's Restaurants, Goulson projected the first unit to be open in Spring 2007 complete with an updated restaurant motif. Johnny's is registered to franchise in most states.

Anthony Calamunci, Johnny's Lunch president whose grandfather founded Johnny's 71-years ago, said "Just like our signature menu, this company is 'Fresh, Hot, and Fast.'"

Calamunci added that the original Johnny's in southwestern New York has developed an almost cult-like following with a number of celebrities such as country and western singer- actor Kenny Rogers making periodic visits to the restaurant.

"My brother John and our parents Dianne and Gus have continued to operate the restaurant over the years prior to making the decision to expand nationally," Calamunci said.

Johnny's features a menu of Johnny's Hots and Johnny's burgers that are sold in increments of three (Threebees R) at a reasonable price along with Johnny's Fries, Johnny's Rice Pudding, Johnny's Shakes and other menu items.
