Born and raised in York County Steven M. Hovis has spent his career working for its businesses and governments.
Since the retirement last year of his father, Raymond Hovis, Steven has provided a smooth transition as Stock and Leader continues to represent local governments and school districts
as bond counsel.
He graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University in New York with a degree in political science. He was a student peer adviser on the university's Judicial Board and was associate chief justice of the Resident Hall Judicial Board.
He has worked for his father's firm since his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1990. He was solicitor or bond counsel to the city of York and the municipalities of Columbia in Lancaster County and East Prospect, Jacobus, New Freedom and Wrightsville in York County.
He has worked with seven school districts: Central York, Eastern York, Northeastern, Red Lion, South Eastern, Spring Grove and Tuscarora, Franklin County. Hovis also has worked with Jackson Township, the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the York Foundation, the York Township Planning Commission and the York Township Water & Sewer Authority.
He also has assisted numerous businesses and individuals over the past 10 years.
He is a member and former president of Main Street York a current board member for the American Heart Association and York CrimeStoppers. He also is a member of Springettsbury Sertoma.
