You Need to Be a Little Crazy - Day 1

Having just read Barry Moltz's book "You Need to Be a Little Crazy" I can only say one thing. He's good. The straight-forward honest style that he writes in says only good things about his character and his deep knowledge on starting, running and succeeding in business. I asked Barry if he would answer some questions that I had about his views on business and success and he has agreed to give it a go. In case you don't know Barry he is 'a business coach, angel investor and serial entrepreneur that has founded three start-up companies and prairie Angels, a group of private investors committed to investing in early stage companies.' This all means that HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. Barry will be answering a question a day for the next five days so let's begin with the first question:

Q: There are many trials and tribulations that you went through in your business life. In the end you seem to have been very successful. Even though 'You you need to be a little Crazy!' would you do it again? Do you think the benefits that you have received over this life struggle were worth the effort that you expended?

A: Would I do it again is not a question I can really answer. There is some passion that drives me inside where I have no choice but to do what I have done. Would I have liked some of the situations to work out differently- yes. Were many of the lows difficult to deal with-yes. Would I have made some different choices- probably yes. But I do not think it makes sense to go back and speculate. You can't reshape the past. That is a waste of time. I love the place I have gotten to after over 20 years of being in business. I think that all of the experiences, good and bad got me to this place. As Zen says, life is about 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows. All of it makes us who we are. The good times allow us to celebrate with the folks close to us. The difficult times teach us to be humble.
