Survey Says: eBay Entrepreneurs Are Small and Hungry

Sure, there are plenty of Beanie Baby collectors, but forklift collectors? Unlikely. That's why when eBay executives noticed a few years ago that users were buying big-ticket items such as forklifts, bulldozers, computer networking equipment, and restaurant supplies on the auction site, they had a hunch that the buyers were small-business owners. "

- There are some really interesting statistics here. One of the conclusions seems to be a buster of the myth that small business will create the jobs that will get us out of the lack-of-job rut that we are currently in. It seems that small businesses are planning expansions but are following the big boy's lead and increasing productivity instead of hiring. -ed.
