How Do I Contact Angel Investors?

* From  Date: Saturday, November 20 2004

I've written my business plan. Now I'd like to use it to get funded by angel investors. How do I get my business plan in front of them?

Getting your business plan in front of the right people often takes

an introduction by a third party so that your plan gets the attention it deserves. Do your research and identify whom you want to approach. Interview your accountants, your lawyers, your advisory board members and other industry executives.

Your inquiries to all of these people should be twofold. First, whom do they know that can help you further your business? Second, who do they know that might be willing to invest in your business? These will often be overlapping groups.

I always recommend that you first seek individuals with an interest and expertise in your business. There's enough money around these days that if you're speaking to successful individuals with expertise, they're also candidates for becoming angel investors. If they are convinced of your plan and enthusiastic about your likelihood for success, they will be pleased to introduce you to others.
