Top women aim lower

According to research by Barclays, over half of Britain's top female executives believe that their male colleagues still have significantly higher earning potential than they do - 52 per cent of women earning over 100,000 a year think that the glass ceiling still exists.

The research looked

at the career aspirations of over 600 'affluentials' in the UK and found stark differences between affluent men and women. Earning aspirations are also very different, with men working towards an ultimate average salary of 174,000 per year and women towards 129,000 per year - 25 per cent lower. Only eight per cent of women say that their target annual income is over 250,000 whereas 22 per cent of men feel this is well within their reach.
