Strategic Business Blogging

Paul Chaney
If you have a business, you need a blog. A blog can help position you as the expert in your field. You already know a great deal about the products you sell or the services you offer. A blog gives you the opportunity to easily share that knowledge with thousands of interested people across the globe.

Latest Comments in Strategic Business Blogging posts

Hi
From my own experience I started a site and within a few days received visitors via Google searches because my categories were titled with company names.
Search results pointed directly at the index page for my categories.
And even though my site is still small I'm still appearing on page one of results.
Category titles are vital and it is something I consider when building sites.
All the best

AllBusiness.com Bloggers Make Marketing Sherpa's Readers Choice Awards List
Paul, not only does AllBusiness have a new CEO, Peter Horan, it has THE CEO that will help grow and significantly direct the company towards realizing all of its possibilities. Peter has an amazing reputation in the industry and he has most recently done things for About.com that have people's eyeballs a twirlin. Peter joins AB at a very unique time in its history and will be an amazing guy to watch.

It is a testament to how strongly legitimate AB is in the space to be able to attract a man of Peter's caliber.

Congratulations AB Team and Welcome aboard Peter!

Here, here, Paul! I was chuckling as I read your post and noticed how long it was getting. :-)

That's really great advice you've dished out. And it should be noted that there are "add on" spell checkers for both IE and Firefox that bloggers can use to spell check their postings. I know I couldn't live without one.

Best regards,

Part 1 — Benefits Of Blogging Affiliates and merchants should be blogging as a marketing strategy. A blog (what is a blog?) is another way to get your message out there, regardless of who you are or what you´re selling....

Blogs Are Search Engine Magnets
A brief story in support of search engine love affairs with blogs...I wrote a story on my blog a few months ago about a small (really small) hotel I used to stay at in Korea. I mentioned the name of the hotel maybe three times in the post. As recent as today, I am #3 and 4 on Yahoo! search for the Songtan Hotel. Google has me at #12, and Ask Jeeves has my post at #15.

That's three mentions and one link to their site within a 500 word (approx.) post. Incredible!

Imagine the cost and effort on SEO to get thsoe listings with static pages.

Blogs Are Search Engine Magnets
Jim, I can go you one better. Months ago I wrote a 50 word entry on my blog about Mark Cuban's rules for success. I included a link to his site of course.

For months I was the number two reutrn on the keyword phrase "Mark Cuban success rules." I checked today, and I'm numbers 1 and 2!

It's really amazing how this works.

Blogs Are Search Engine Magnets
I agree. Blogs are better compared to email or a web page. None of them will go away though they may evolve. We are already seeing podcasts and soon more people will start video blogs.

Are Blogs an Internet Bubble Waiting to Burst?
I am new to blogging yet my intuitive response to blogging frequency has led me to blog an average of four times per week. My site is very popular primarily because it is a niche market. My site is "Notes From The World Of Anger Management". I find your site very helpful.

How Often Should You Post?
Hey Denise and Paul --

Yep, I'm with you. Been doing this for quite a while and have had a Google Alert set up too. Don't you just love technology?

Google Your Business Name & See How You Rank
Good advice, Paul. I wrote a post last week about setting up a Google Alert on your name and business name so you can have email delivered to you when your name hits Google.

http://www.allbusiness.com/blog/YourProjectPartner/3358/001960.html

You'll get better search results when you Google your name, and getting an email also reminds you to keep tabs on what's out there.

How Often Should You Post?
It does work. I have a personal blog I call "Genuine".
Google that word or put it in Yahoo. My site comes up #1 everytime, and that is well used word that could lead to anything. I think it also means that your post is spot on!
