Great comments. We implimented an RSS feed to notify our customers about small business opportunity listings and web site updates using magpieRSS and it works slick. you can see it on our home page at http://www.abbutah.com and tryout the the news feed at http://www.abbutah.com/utah-business-opportunties.rss. it was relatively painless to develop and impliment.

Increase search engine rankings using RSS
I own and am selling blogwebmaster.com via Ebay now.Perhaps this domain name could be used for placement services ,and in part help companies avoid the high cost of SEO.I will soon be selling similar names intended for blog directory use in the same Ebay market place and price range ie.$50,000US.
Directory sites will help clear up Google blog clutter,by the end of this year.

Increase search engine rankings using RSS
Thank you for your comments Frank and Denise.

Once web site owners take some time and read some of these guidelines, it can prompt the questions that will help them decide how much to do in-house and whether to outsource. Search engines reveal a lot more than people realize about how to improve rankings.

Search Engine Guidelines
Great points Lee. Sometimes the information needed is right in front of us and we forget to look in the obvious places.

Search Engine Guidelines
Lee -- This will be really helpful to your readers. So many people don't even know what questions to ask, much less any kind of awareness about guidelines being available. Kudos for taking the time to put it all in one place.

Diversify your web site traffic
Good advice for anyone, I think. An advertising portfolio should ideally run across several media to maintain a stable base. You've got a great website. I've put a link back to it on my blog entitled "Search Engine Optimization - A Beginner's Guide." Feel free to stop by.

Best Marketing Blogs Announced
Good point Frank. In fact, a linking program can drive significant levels of new traffic independent of search engines. Add RSS feeds in conjunction with a email newsletter and you've created a nice traffic portfolio.

Do it yourself search engine marketing
Great article and viewpoint. The fact that SERPs can sometimes change dramatically during an update is another good reason to have other sources of traffic. For example, maybe a few Google Adwords campaigns ready to go in case you drop off of Google SERPs.

Scrambled Search Engines
AOL and Google numbers are not combined as they represent different search properties - even though the source search results are from the same place.

Which search engines are most important?
Always interesting to see Search Engine Market Share stats. So I guess that would mean we would actually add AOL's percentage to Google? So Google would have 46.3? Or does AOL churn Google results?

Which search engines are most important?
Congrats on your new blog. I hope it does as well as your other blog. ;)

I like the content here, so far. It's all a bit more in line with what I do every day. As a matter of fact, I recently wrote an article very similar to this one, called "Common SEO Mistakes." I covered graphical text, too much flash, missing keywords, poor keyword focus, meta overload, weak backlinks, and ugly / unusable websites.

Keep up the quality posting. I'm off to subscribe.

Most common reasons sites rank poorly
The most recent comScore numbers (available on SearchEngineWatch) are:

Google: 48%
Yahoo: 32%
MSN: 16%
Ask: 2%
Other: 2%

The good news is that if you create a balanced SEO strategy that targets the big three, you're likely to do very well in all the search engines.

Which search engines are most important?
Lee --

Thanks so much for this very clear explanation of what to do about submitting to directories. There is so much conflicting information out there and you have condensed what needs to be done into a nice little package for me. Kudos!
