Ney is a senior mergers and acquisition advisor and manages the west coast office for the Woodbridge Group, a mid-market mergers and acquisitions firm. Ney is also a founder of Compass Point Capital, a business brokerage and M&A firm located in California. Ney has been active in the sales of companies large and small, and these experiences have given Ney a unique view of both areas.
Ney is an entrepreneur and executive who has been involved with buying and selling companies for almost 20 years - both for himself and others. Ney founded a technology company in 1989, growing it to $4 million in sales and selling it in 1997. Ney then became co-founder and the Vice President of Acquisitions for a unique startup that raised $20 million in venture capital to fund a series of acquisitions using equity and cash.
Ney then ran his own consulting company that provided M&A services to McGraw Hill Education and others, and developed and holds a patent for an innovative wireless testing device for classroom use – his third startup. Ney has an engineering degree from UC Santa Barbara and an MBA from UC Davis. He also holds the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) certification from the International Business Brokers Association. He actively mentors young companies and is a former board member of the Sacramento Venture Capital Forum.
Ney is an avid pilot and often flies his single engine Cessna Centurion to visit his clients. Ney lives with his wife and kids in the foothills of Northern California.
