BA 767s tested for use as RAF tankers.

A BRITISH Airways Boeing 767 has undergone trials in the US to assess its suitability for use as a mid-air tanker aircraft.

BA's 767 fleet has been earmarked as a source of aircraft by bidders for the Royal Air Force's [pound]9bn contract to provide a private-sector tanker service for the next 20 years.

BA leased the aircraft to US aircraft manufacturer Boeing so that trials could be conducted with US Air Force fighter aircraft.
