Computer Motion Inc. Completes Initial PublicOffering.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1997--Computer Motion Inc. (Nasdaq:RBOT) Monday announced the closing of its initial public offering of 2.5 million shares of its common stock, at a price of $14 per share.

The offering is being managed by Montgomery Securities and Piper Jaffray

Inc. The company has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to 375,000 additional shares of common stock to cover overallotments, if any. Computer Motion develops and markets proprietary robotic and computerized surgical systems.

``The $35 million that we raised will allow us to deliver on our vision of the Operating Room of the Future,'' said Gene Wang, chief executive officer and president.
