PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2002

The top small-cap stocks picked by analysts at RedChip Review(TM) appreciated 16.67% in 2001, led by a whopping 379% gain in D & K Healthcare Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq:DKWD), a wholesale distributor of pharmaceuticals,

health care and beauty aid products. The annual results for the list of 32 RedChip Top Picks(TM) exceeded all major index returns for the third straight year.

RedChip Review(TM) is now tracking the performance of the 2002 list, which was up 1.67% overall as of Feb. 5, 2002. The list was published on the Web at www.redchip.com today.

Fifteen of the 2001 Top Picks(TM) finished 2001 with double-digit gains. They included pharmaceutical company VIVUS, Inc. (Nasdaq:VVUS), up 161%; automotive-sensor manufacturer BEI Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:BEIQ), up 67%; and The Titan Corporation (Nasdaq:TTN), an IT consulting firm, up 65%. "There seems to be no industry pattern to the winners and losers, aside from the cluster of application software companies in the loser column," said RedChip Review(TM) Director of Research Dave Archibald. "While the late 1990s humiliated every investor not concentrated in large-cap index funds, large-cap technology, Internet and biotech stocks, today's market favors smaller, more agile companies with strong balance sheets and strong management."

Returns for the Top Picks(TM) were measured from Dec. 20, 2000, to Dec. 20, 2001. The list does not run on a regular calendar year but is based on the date of publication of the list.
