Jul. 29--DOCTORS FUND OFFICES: The new owner of Wachovia Plaza in Durham is not a billion-dollar pension fund, a wealthy foreign investor or an insurance titan.

Instead, it's about a dozen doctors, lawyers and other professionals who pooled their money into a new kind of real estate investment fund to pay $38 million for the 10-story office building.

The buyers had all sold smaller property recently and were seeking to shield profits of $500,000 to $1 mill
