Wells Fargo announces $2 billion loan commitment to California small businesses for 1995.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 1995--Wells Fargo Bank announced Tuesday a $2 billion loan commitment to small businesses in California by the end of the year.

In making the announcement, the bank said that during the 18 months beginning June 1993, it committed $2 billion to small

businesses and actually approved $2.7 billion. (Geographic breakdowns are attached.)

"We worked hard to surpass our lending goal of $2 billion for California," said Terri Dial, executive vice president of the Business Banking Group. "Now we are coming back with a promise to do it again, but in 12 months not 18 months."

"No bank has ever met small business lending goals of this size," said Dial. "We are pleased with our record of achievement.

"It's important to me that small businesses know that we are just as willing to make the $5,000 loan as we are to make the $500,000 loan," said Dial. -0-
