Regions Again Ranked among 'Best Places to Work' in Technology.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Regions Financial Corporation (NYSE: RF) once again has been named by Computerworld as a top workplace for information technology professionals.

This year's "100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology" survey, the 12th annual, was published in

the June 27 issue of the International Data Group magazine and online at Computerworld.com. Regions, ranked No. 100, was one of few financial institutions named to the list, which was compiled from information gathered from employees in an online survey and from statistical profiles of companies and their IT organizations. This is the third consecutive year Regions has been included in the Top 100.

"The entire Regions team can be proud of this ranking," said Regions Chief Information Officer John R. Dick, who noted that the survey period encompassed the Regions-Union Planters merger of 2004.

"Since the merger, our IT group has worked successfully to combine the two organization's technology systems and divisions at the corporate and branch levels while continuing to advance the technology capabilities of the company, one of the nation's Top 15 financial services providers," said Dick. "This makes the associate feedback the survey ranking represents even more rewarding."

Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature ranks the Top 100 work environments for technology professionals from U.S.-based companies with 2004 revenue of $250 million or greater, a minimum of 500 employees in the United States and a minimum of 100 IT employees in the United States. The nominated companies answer a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention.

In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 20,000 IT workers from the final 100 companies selected, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings. Topics covered in the employee survey included satisfaction with training and development programs, base salary, bonuses, health benefits and work/life balance. Employees were asked to rate morale in their IT departments and the importance of various benefits; they were also asked to rate the degree to which they agreed with a variety of statements relating to subjects ranging from career growth to management's fair and equal treatment of employees.

Regions has also been recognized as an innovative user of technology in CMP Media LLC's InformationWeek 500.
