Web-Wired ATMs May Take Off: A new survey shows consumer support for automated teller machines...

TM deployers by and large have let Internet commerce pass them by. As revolutionary as ATMs were 30 years ago, they do not have the modem speeds and software needed to send and receive the most basic messages over the World Wide Web. Besides, some deployers contend, Web connections are not needed to initiate cash withdrawals and deposits, which account for almost all the nation's more than 1 billion monthly ATM transactions.
