Feb. 22--When you think of company benefits, you probably think of major medical insurance, retirement pay or free use of the copy machine, but thinking of a new home is not likely in the mix.

Once upon a time, some big employers like mining and textile companies built houses for their help, providing low-cost and immediately available places near the work place. Company towns dried up along with company-paid school teachers and doctors and employees found their housing
