Biometrics Skeptics: Good For James Bond, Not Joe Member.(Brief Article)

Despite optimistic predictions about biometrics' popularity as the final solution to fraud, not all credit unions are sold on the technology.

The number of biometrics-enabled CUs isn't enormous. Real-Time Data Management of Norfolk, Va., which provides online data processing and member services solely for CUs, has installed approximately 50 biometric devices at about 15 credit unions in the United States, which has about 11,000 CUs. Biometrics vendors predict that 100 CUs will have adopted biometric authentication by the end of 2001.
