Bank of the Ozarks Announces Agreement to PurchaseMarshall Branch of Superior Federal Bank.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1998--Bank of the Ozarks, Inc. (NASDAQ: OZRK) today announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the purchase of the Marshall branch of Superior Federal Bank, F.S.B. The acquisition will include the branch bank building and related assets, which

will include all deposits and certain loans. Marshall is the county seat and largest community in Searcy County.

Bank of the Ozarks will acquire more than 3,000 deposit accounts, totaling approximately $17.3 million in deposits. The bank plans to keep all Superior employees, so customers can expect a smooth transition.

"Marshall and Searcy County comprise a vital growth market for Bank of the Ozarks, as do Harrison and Boone County to the northwest," said George Gleason, chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of the Ozarks. "We are looking forward to providing our new Marshall customers with a very attractive package of banking services, including the addition of free ATM service."

Superior customers will receive more information about enhanced services and other benefits in June. Pending regulatory approval, the acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 90 days.
