According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the manmade fiber production in March was 102,485 tons, down 6.0% from the same month of the preceding year and up 7.7% from the preceding month.

All fibers except for polypropylene filament fell against the same month of the preceding year.

Especially, polyester filament in which apparel continues stagnation fell back considerably, down 11.1%.

Because March had three more days of operation, the output of many items rose against the preceding month.

Manmade fiber stocks at the end of March were 104,743 tons, down 7.8% from the end of the preceding month. Stocks fell because March in Japan is the end of the fiscal year for year-end adjustment.
