Thailand
is continuing negotiations for the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) with Japan. When the FTA is concluded, exports of Thai-made apparel to Japan will have a significant improvement in price. The Thai apparel industry has begun to work on cost reduction. Through a review of production processes and the introduction of pay-by-results, the effect of improved production efficiency has reportedly become noticeable. When these projects become full-fledged combined with the effort to create high-value-added products by improving planning proposal power, Thailand will be able to establish a unique position not available in China or Indonesia as asupply base of apparel to Japan.
