OVER the years, Brad Bergefurd had read about work being done in North Carolina with a strawberry production technique that utilized runner tips instead of actual plants. When this extension horticulturist from The Ohio State University's (OSU) Piketon facility was invited to speak at a school in the Tar Heel State, he began learning more about the possibilities this technique could hold for Ohio growers.
