Farmers Need to Link Up to Improve Bargaining Power, Economist Says.

Jun. 17--As a theory, Richard Levins has no problem selling his idea to farmers and ranchers. After all, he thinks they should make more money.

"A better price is better than a worse price," is his simple philosophy.

Organizing ag producers to get more for their commodities is the hard part. He tried to give local farmers a nudge in that direction Monday night.

Levins is an Extension agricultural economist at the University of Minnesota. A coalition
