Interface controls for construction and agricultural equipment present a unique set of challenges for designers. Because an operator can spend upward of 12 hours a day in the cab, comfort and ergonomics are paramount relative to cabs in similar vehicles used for shorter durations. But the same off-highway vehicles are often unused for months at a time, creating extended-hour bursts of use rather than daily use found in many vehicles. The unique usage patterns of off-highway equipment create fundamental ergonomic and durability challenges for today's cab design teams.
