On March 31, the MACPA will kick-off the Minority Accounting College Leadership Conference. In partnership with the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and Walsh College, this complimentary conference, offered only to minority students, will teach students about the many rewards

that lie ahead by pursuing the CPA certification.

The MACPA, NABA and Walsh College have come together to bring this Conference to minority college students to show them what it takes to become a CPA and why they should go that extra mile to earn their certification.

They'll hear from a special agent for the IRS about one of the hottest topics in accounting today: fraud. During Internal Revenue Service Fraud Training Program, students will take the role of an "honorary" IRS agent to discover how IRS special agents solve world-class cases in this workshop developed by the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. Students will utilize their accounting background and skills, along with the tools available to law enforcement officers, to solve a hypothetical financial crime.

Students will also hear from Richard Bershback, CPA, professor of accounting at Walsh College, as he discusses Preparing to Pass the CPA Exam. Students will discover resources to help them succeed on their way to CPA certification.

In Step Up to Success, young professionals will share with conference attendees the process of earning their CPA licenses and newly certified CPAs will discuss experiences and the tips they have to help students launch their own careers.

This Conference will show students the terrific opportunity, credibility and compensation CPAs enjoy. The Conference aims to encourage students to take that next step and pursue their CPA certification, and in turn, grow the future of the CPA profession. Register online.
