A recent study of 1,000 college-bound high school students and 1,000 college students conducted for the American Institute of CPAs by the Gallup Organization, Inc., Princeton, New Jersey, revealed a number of interesting perceptions held by the students on accounting and provided an indication

of their interest in accounting as a career.

The study's objectives were to

* Measure career awareness.

* Gauge student attitudes toward a career in accounting.

* Find out when a commitment to a college major or career is made.

* Identify the sources of influence on college and career decisions.
