Why the buzz? Much has been written about the rapid impact wireless technology has had and is having on contemporary life. But many restaurant operators are still searching for the killer application that would leverage the capabilities of wireless technology in ways the cabled networks they already have installed can't match. In Temp Trak, they may have found what they've been looking for.

The system Faiola helped develop is a slick hardware/software package.

The hardware aspect involves thermocouple sensors linked to programmable wireless transceivers that are spotted in key areas throughout the back of the house. The sensors measure temperatures at operator-- specified time intervals, and the transceivers send that data on to the restaurant's on-site or remote networked computer.
