The director of hospitality programs at Central Texas College knows it's hard to align academic efforts with a day job. That's why William Cole has launched an online associate degree program on two tracks: hotel management and food & beverage management.

"One of the things I recognized

is that hoteliers and restaurateurs find it hard to work a college schedule around the demands of the business," he says from Central Texas College in Killeen, about two hours south of Dallas. "Doing this online makes this a self-paced program. There's no time missed from work."

Launched in January, in a partnership between the college and the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the two-year online degree program already boasts some 200 enrollees, Cole says. He says it's the only program in the U.S. to offer an entire hospitality degree online. Course rates range from about $115 to $350. Each course includes coursework-related videos and textbooks that can be accessed and viewed online. Internships also are available.
