Microtel Inns & Suites is going an extra mile to cater to travelers with disabilities. The 279-unit budget chain has implemented a number of programs that helped it boost net revenues for ADA rooms by 42 percent last year over 2004:

* The Access Microtel guide gives information-both in large

print and Braille-about the accessibility features at the chain's properties.

* Accessible Fitness bags, a kit of hand weights, stretch bands and handgrips, are available in fitness centers or can be checked out by guests.

* The Upper Body Ergometer provides travelers with disabilities an option for upper body cardiovascular conditioning. It's available at Microtels with fitness centers.

* Opening Doors is a systemwide training program in disability etiquette. The program uses role playing to teach employees how to serve guests with disabilities.

* Three different ADA room designs are available throughout properties in the chain.
